The short answer
Pikey Peak is a hill of about 4,000 metres in Solu, in the lower part of the Everest region, and is known for wide views of peaks including Everest, Makalu and Lhotse on clear days, with sunrise and sunset light. The trail from Phaplu or Salleri passes through Sherpa and Rai villages and forest, and links with the Dudhkunda route via Junbesi.
It is a good choice if you want a quieter alternative to the Lukla route, with homestays and village life. Local people hold a clan-deity celebration around July, which is a rainy month, so weigh the festival against the weather. Ask your operator about the current road, airstrip and lodging situation before you go.
