The short answer
Banke National Park lies in the mid-western Terai near Nepalgunj, next to Bardia, and was set up to protect the forest corridor that animals use between the two areas. It has tigers, leopards, elephants, blackbuck antelope and many birds, but far fewer visitors and fewer lodges than Chitwan.
It suits travellers who want a quiet, rough-edged park and who are already heading to Bardia or Nepalgunj. Expect simple facilities, jeep drives and walks with a guide, and treat it as a bonus on a far-west trip, not a headline attraction.
