The short answer

Say "madat garnuhos" (help me) and "malai doctor chahiyo" (I need a doctor). To describe pain, "mero tauko dukhyo" means my head hurts, and "malai ramro chhaina" means I do not feel well. Tell your guide at once if you feel unwell on a trek.

Learn your allergies and conditions in English and show a written note. For serious cases, call your insurer and tell your hotel or guide. Spellings are simple transliterations; sounds vary by region and speaker.
