The short answer

Numbers one to ten in Nepali are ek, dui, teen, char, panch, chha, saat, aath, nau, das (एक, दुई, तीन, चार, पाँच, छ, सात, आठ, नौ, दश). Hindi uses ek, do, teen, chaar, paanch, chhah, saat, aath, nau, das. Useful time words are aaja (today), bholi (tomorrow), hijo (yesterday), bihana (morning), diuso (day) and raat (night).

Numbers help you in markets, taxis and with times. Spellings are simple transliterations; sounds vary by region and speaker.
