Many pilgrims from Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai and nearby areas travel to Kailash Mansarovar and Muktinath every year, usually by flying to Kathmandu and then continuing by the route the operator arranges. Travelling in a group of people who share your language can make the journey easier, especially for older pilgrims.
Language support cannot be assumed. Before you pay, ask the operator in writing whether a guide or coordinator who speaks Tamil will travel with the group, what meals are served and what happens if a family member needs to leave early. Tamil pilgrims often travel as families, so ask about rooms for older relatives.
