The short answer
Snow leopards, red pandas and musk deer live in remote high-altitude protected areas such as Sagarmatha, Langtang, Kanchenjunga, Makalu Barun, Manaslu, Annapurna and Shey Phoksundo. They are shy and rarely seen, and most visitors enjoy signs of life such as tracks and habitat more than a sighting.
Himalayan tahr, blue sheep and many birds are much easier to see on a trek. If wildlife is your goal, join a specialist trek with an experienced guide and plan extra time. The Himalayan wolf and wild yak also live in remote areas.
