What are the seven monument zones of Kathmandu Valley?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

They are the three royal Durbar Squares (Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur), two Buddhist stupas (Swayambhunath and Boudhanath) and two Hindu temple complexes (Pashupatinath and Changu Narayan). Together they are the reason the valley is listed.

How it works

  2. Day 2Pashupatinath and Boudhanath in the morning, Patan in the afternoon.
  3. Day 3Bhaktapur and Changu Narayan.

Insider tip

Group them by area: Boudhanath and Pashupatinath on the east side, Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar in the centre, Patan south, Bhaktapur and Changu Narayan east.

Avoid this

Do not try to see all seven in a day. You will remember only the traffic.
