The short answer
Core gear includes mountaineering boots, crampons, an ice axe, a harness, helmet, warm layers and a sleeping bag suited to cold nights. Many operators provide group equipment such as ropes and tents, and some gear can be rented in Kathmandu. Check the list and fit boots carefully.
Build fitness with long hikes with a pack, stair or hill training, and some cardio. Practise on snow or ice if you can before leaving. Fitness shortens recovery and improves safety at altitude.
