How does a Tibet tour from Nepal work?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Most visitors reach Tibet from Kathmandu, either by a flight to Lhasa or overland through a border crossing, with the trip arranged by a licensed operator. Entry needs a Chinese visa and a Tibet travel permit, and rules differ by nationality and change often, so the operator confirms what applies to you before you pay.

Tours are usually guided and follow set routes, commonly Lhasa, then Shigatse and Gyantse, then Everest north side or Kailash. Plan extra days at the start for permits and at the end for flexibility.
