Can I swim in natural pools or waterfall pools?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Some rivers and streams in the foothills have calm pools, but currents and rising water make swimming risky. Swimming is generally safer in controlled places such as hotel pools or designated lake areas. Local advice matters more than any list.

Look at the water before getting in, avoid pools below waterfalls, never swim alone and stay out in monsoon. Ask your guide which places are safe in your season.
