The short answer
Pokhara is the easiest base for two to four day treks. Poon Hill gives Annapurna and Dhaulagiri sunrise views, Ghandruk is a Gurung village walk, Mardi Himal reaches a high ridge below Machhapuchhre, and Panchase, Khumai Danda and Kori Danda are quieter hill routes with less traffic. All start within a few hours by road.
