The short answer
The Chepang Hill Trail is a short community-tourism walk through hill villages of the Chepang people between Dhading and Chitwan. It begins at Hugdi, around 80 km from Kathmandu, and climbs through terraced fields and forest to villages such as Shaktikhor. Community homestays are available in some villages.
The Chepang have their own language and a way of life linked to forest foods and small-scale farming. Go with respect: ask before taking photos, buy local products and follow your guide. The trail suits autumn to spring, and it combines well with Chitwan National Park at the end.
