Can you visit the Tibetan settlements in Pokhara?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Many Tibetans settled around Pokhara after 1959, and several settlements welcome visitors. Tashi Ling at Chhorepatan is close to Devi's Fall and Gupteshwor Cave, so it is easy to combine. Others include Tashi Palkhel in Hemja and Paljor Ling near Prithvi Chowk.

You can see small monasteries, handmade carpet workshops, schools and craft shops. Be respectful, ask before taking photos of people, and buy directly from the workshops if you want a carpet or craft that supports the community.
