Can you see a snow leopard in Nepal?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

It is possible but rare. Snow leopards live in Shey Phoksundo, Annapurna, Manaslu and Sagarmatha, and sightings are measured in weeks of patience, not days. Blue sheep, Himalayan tahr and Himalayan monal are far more common.

Insider tip

Specialist wildlife operators run snow leopard trips in winter; they are physically demanding and need warm clothing and patience.

Avoid this

Do not buy a tour that guarantees a snow leopard. No honest operator can.
