What are the Gaurishankar and Blackbuck conservation areas?

The short answer

Gaurishankar Conservation Area lies north-east of Kathmandu near the Tibet border and includes the Rolwaling valley, high peaks and sacred mountain landscapes. It is a remote trekking region with Sherpa and Tamang communities.

Blackbuck Conservation Area is in the Bardia region of the western Terai and protects the blackbuck, a rare Indian antelope. It is a quieter add-on to a Bardia trip, best visited with a local guide who knows where the herds graze.
