How do I introduce myself in Nepali, Hindi and English?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

To say your name, Nepali uses "mero naam ... ho" and Hindi "mera naam ... hai". To ask someone's name, say "tapai ko naam ke ho?" in Nepali or "aap ka naam kya hai?" in Hindi. For where you are from, say "ma ... bata aaeko hu" in Nepali and "main ... se aaya hoon" in Hindi.

It helps to learn the words for family, friend, tourist and guest, which are all easy and friendly. Spellings are simple transliterations; sounds vary by region and speaker.
