Where are the best cafes, bakeries and coffee?

The short answer

Pokhara's Lakeside and Kathmandu's Thamel, Jhamsikhel and Patan have the densest cafe scenes, with hill-grown coffee, bakeries and rooftop spots. Many cafes serve both Nepali coffee and imported styles. Small bakeries in tourist areas sell fresh bread and pastries.

Look for cafes that roast or source Nepali coffee and try a cup brewed from local beans.
