The short answer
South Indian pilgrims usually fly to Kathmandu or Pokhara, then continue to Muktinath by a mountain flight to Jomsom with a jeep, or by road in a private vehicle. The flight is shorter but depends on weather, so keep spare days. Temples such as Pashupatinath are often added on the same trip.
Ask the operator about temple rules, steps and altitude, since Muktinath is high and the air is thin. Pilgrims in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam may want a guide who speaks their language. Confirm this in advance and do not assume it.
