The short answer
The Tamang Heritage Trail in Rasuwa district north of Kathmandu passes Tamang villages such as Gatlang, Briddim and Thuman, with monasteries, mani walls and stone houses. It is an easy way to see mountain culture without high altitude.
Villages here offer homestays and local food, including buckwheat dishes and local honey. The trail is quieter than Annapurna or Everest and gives views to Langtang and Ganesh Himal.
