The short answer
The Pashupati zone covers the vast temple complex of Pashupatinath on the Bagmati River, the holiest Shiva site in Nepal. The main temple is for Hindus only, but the east bank terraces, ghats, hillside shrines and forest are open to all visitors, with a fee for foreigners.
Plan two to three hours, and consider staying for the evening aarati. It is a working religious site, so behave quietly, avoid photographing cremations and do not enter closed shrines.
