Can I trek to Rara Lake?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Yes. Rara Lake (about 2,990 m) in Mugu district is Nepal's largest lake. Trekkers fly to Nepalgunj and then Talcha or Jumla and walk through pine forest to the lake, a trek of about six to eight days. The area is a national park with Himalayan wildlife and few visitors.

The trek is moderate in effort but remote in access, so flights and weather need buffer days.
