Which caves in Nepal can visitors enter?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Pokhara has the best cluster: Gupteshwor Mahadev cave with a shrine, Mahendra Cave and the Bat Cave. Near Kathmandu, Pharping's Asura cave is sacred to Buddhists, and Halesi Mahadev in the east is a major Hindu pilgrimage cave. Chovar has a cave gorge as well.

Caves are dark, wet and slippery. Bring a torch, wear shoes with grip and respect any shrine inside. Bats and narrow passages can be unsettling for some.
