The short answer
Traditional vastu is a set of ideas about directions, the five elements and how a building or settlement should sit in the land. Many old towns in the Kathmandu Valley were laid out with shrines of mother goddesses placed around the edges, as protectors of the people living in the centre, and temples were oriented with care.
You do not need to believe in it to enjoy the effect: look for shrines at the edges of old towns, courtyards arranged around a central temple, and doors facing certain directions. Guides can point out the pattern. Today some new buildings in Kathmandu also say they follow vastu principles. This describes cultural and spiritual practices as they are followed in Nepal, not medical or financial advice.
