The short answer
Lucknow is a large rail and air hub and a natural starting point for travellers from central Uttar Pradesh. The two common routes are by road via Bahraich to Rupaidiha for Nepalgunj and Bardia, or by train and road to Gorakhpur and Sunauli for Lumbini and Pokhara. Direct flights to Kathmandu are also an option from many cities.
Choose the route by destination. For Bardia or the far west pick Rupaidiha; for Lumbini or Pokhara pick Sunauli; for Kathmandu consider a flight.
