What if a general closure or road blockage affects my plans?

The short answer

Occasionally a general closure called a bandh, a local protest or a road blockage can slow travel for a day or more in one area. These are usually announced in advance on local news, and hotels and operators track them. Tourist vehicles are generally given careful guidance, and plans are often adjusted by changing the timing or the route.

The best approach is flexibility: keep a spare day around international flights, listen to your operator and hotel, and avoid travelling on the day of a announced closure if you can. Keep your insurer's details, and a snack and water, within reach. Most disruptions pass quickly.
