What is the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area covers the far north-east corner of Nepal, named after the world's third-highest peak. It includes many peaks above 7,000 metres, glaciers and rich forest, and it links to protected areas in Sikkim and Tibet as a shared peace-park idea.

It is remote, so most visitors go by trek from Taplejung with a licensed agency. Permits are controlled and teahouses are fewer than in Everest or Annapurna, so plan carefully and allow extra days.
