How it works
- Day 1: Kathmandu to PokharaBy flight or road, then rest.
- Day 2: Helicopter to the templeA short flight, a few hours at Muktinath, then back to Pokhara.
- Day 3: ReturnFly or drive back to Kathmandu.
How the helicopter day works
Helicopter tours usually leave from Kathmandu or Pokhara, fly along the Kali Gandaki and land near the temple, allowing a short visit before the return flight. The whole trip takes several hours.
The aircraft lands at altitude so you step out into thin air. Move slowly, drink water and avoid rushing the steps to the temple.
Who should choose it
It suits seniors, people with limited time and those who prefer to avoid long road travel. It is not suited to anyone who cannot cope with sudden altitude change. Consult a doctor, ask about oxygen, and keep a weather buffer.
Insider tip
You arrive at about 3,800 m with little time to adjust, so take it slowly.
Avoid this
Do not book without reading altitude and health at Muktinath.
