The short answer
Phoksundo Lake lies in Shey Phoksundo National Park in Dolpo at about 3,600 metres and is known for its deep turquoise water. Trekkers usually fly to Juphal near Dunai and walk for about two or three days to reach the lake. Park fees apply, and Upper Dolpo needs a separate restricted-area permit.
The best time is late spring to autumn, avoiding heavy monsoon. Plan flexible days since flights to Juphal can be delayed.
