The short answer
Guhyeshwari is a major Shakti shrine on the Bagmati river, close to Pashupatinath. Tradition links it to the story of Sati and counts it among the sacred seats of the Goddess, and it is important to many Hindus and Tantric practitioners. The goddess is worshipped in the form of a water vessel (kalash), not a statue.
The inner shrine is open to Hindus only. Other visitors can still walk the compound, see the pagoda-style building and its carved details, and enjoy the quiet riverside setting. Pair it with a morning at Pashupatinath, and dress modestly.
