The short answer
A short ridge walk from the bazaar leads to Tundikhel, a flat open terrace with wide views over the Marsyangdi valley and, in clear weather, the Himalayan skyline. Further along are the Thani Mai temple and forest paths, where you can add an hour or two of easy hiking.
It is the best place to feel the setting of the town. Go at sunrise or sunset, carry a light layer and take tea with you. Lanes can be dim, so a torch helps on the way back.
