Bandipur · Go and see

How do you explore the Bandipur bazaar?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Bandipur's main street is a car-free stone-paved bazaar lined with Newar houses with neoclassical facades, carved windows and small shops. It was once a trading town on the route to Tibet and India, and its preservation makes it one of the most photogenic old towns in the country.

Walk it slowly in late afternoon and again in the morning. Look at the doorways, the old library and small temples, and stop for tea or sweets. Evening is when lamps come on and the street feels like another era.
