Is the Sundarijal waterfall walk worth it?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

Sundarijal is the most convenient waterfall outing from Kathmandu. A stone staircase climbs beside pipes that carry drinking water to the city, and a cascade tumbles through the forest above. The whole walk to the falls takes about 45 minutes to an hour from the park gate and feels like a real escape from the traffic.

It is ideal for a half-day when you want green hills and fresh air without a long drive. In dry months the flow is modest, but the forest walk is pleasant year-round, and in monsoon the falls are loud and cool.
