The short answer
Pick the pickup point that gives the shortest sensible road on the Nepal side. For Lumbini, Pokhara and the west choose Gorakhpur or Nautanwa and Sunauli. For Kathmandu and Chitwan choose Raxaul. For Janakpur choose Jaynagar. For Bardia and the far west choose Rupaidiha and Nepalgunj. For the east choose Jogbani or Kakarbhitta.
If you start from Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Patna or Darbhanga, route via the nearest of these borders based on your Nepal goal. When in doubt, ask for two route options and compare time, comfort and cost.
