What should I know about Chulu West and Chulu East?

By Base Camp Tours, licensed Nepal travel agency (Tourism License 3121/080) · Updated · 1 min read

The short answer

The Chulu peaks rise above Manang and Ledar on the north side of the Annapurna Circuit. Chulu West is the more common objective, while Chulu East is higher and more demanding. Both need glacier travel, steep snow and strong acclimatisation.

Many climbers combine a Chulu climb with the Thorong La crossing. The remote setting and big views make it a rewarding step up from Pisang.
