The short answer
Ama Dablam is the famous "Matterhorn of the Himalaya", visible from the Everest Base Camp trail with its sharp ridges and hanging glacier. Climbing it is a true expedition on steep rock, ice and fixed ropes, usually taking several weeks.
It is one of the most popular technical expedition peaks in Nepal and is suited to experienced climbers with strong skills. Many trekkers simply enjoy the view from Tengboche or Dingboche.
