Mugling Junction · Understand it

What is Mugling and why does everyone stop there?

The short answer

Mugling (often spelled Muglin) is a busy highway junction on the Prithvi Highway where the road from Kathmandu meets the roads to Pokhara in the west and Narayangadh and Chitwan in the south. It also sits near the meeting of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, which gives the town its setting between steep green hills.

For a traveller it is a practical halfway point: a place to eat, use a toilet, stretch your legs and check the road ahead. It is not a sightseeing town, but it is the best place on the road to make decisions: stay on to Pokhara, turn south to Chitwan, or add a night in the hills.
