The short answer
Doleshwar Mahadev is a Shiva temple on the southeast edge of the Kathmandu Valley, near Suryabinayak in Bhaktapur district. Many Hindus regard it as the head of the Kedarnath form of Shiva, and it draws pilgrims especially on festival days and during the month of Shrawan.
The temple is quieter than Pashupatinath, set in a green hillside area, and works well with a morning at Bhaktapur or Changu Narayan. Dress modestly and ask locally about non-Hindu access to the inner shrine.
