The short answer
Muktinath sits far up the Kali Gandaki valley. From Jomsom it is a short distance, roughly 20 to 25 km, and normally one to two hours by jeep on a rough road. From Pokhara the usual routes are a short flight to Jomsom followed by a jeep, or a long drive of a day or more by road. From Kathmandu you must first reach Pokhara, so plan for at least two days overall.
The road journey from Pokhara is well over a hundred kilometres of rough track and highway and often takes a full day. Flights to Jomsom run in the morning when wind is low and may be cancelled. Treat Muktinath as a multi-day trip, not a day return.
